LA City CD12 Councilmember John Lee is a lifelong public servant, the son of Korean immigrants, and a resident of Council District 12 for over 40 years.
He has dedicated his career to the City of Los Angeles and was first elected to serve as Councilmember for the Twelfth District of Los Angeles in a Special Election in 2019. He was elected to his first full term in 2020 and was re-elected in 2024.
John’s priorities for Council District 12 and its residents are to increase public safety, support local businesses, deliver core city services and bring quality of life improvements to the community.

John Weitkamp
Treasurer
John F. Weitkamp is a Granada Hills native, graduating from Granada Hills High School in 1971 and practicing law here from 1978 until 2013, when he semi-retired and moved to Sitka, Alaska, with Karen, his wife.
John served the Granada Hills community in many ways: long-time President of the GH Chamber of Commerce, Member of the GH Rotary Club, Chairman of the GH Planning & Environment Committee, Member of the GH Community Hospital Foundation and Boardmember of the GH Community Hospital.
John has helped create many memorable Granada Hills community events as well: the Tri-Chamber 4th of July Fireworks, Revitalization of GH Veterans Park, Hospital Foundation’s Slot Machine Tournament fundraiser, the GH Holiday Parade Committee and so much more.

Greig Smith
Former City of Los Angeles Councilmember CD12
.Greig Smith joined the US Air Force after High School. Upon return he immediately started work with a Congressman, a US Senator and at age 22 was a Consultant to the Vice President of the US.
He returned to Los Angeles and met his High School Sweetheart and married in 1972. They moved to the San Fernando Valley and opened Greig’s Formal Wear in Northridge.
Greig joined the Granada Hills Chamber of Commerce and served as President the North Hills Jaycees. In 1976, Greig was chosen as the Citizen of the Year by the Granada Hills Chamber.
In 1979 he helped Hal Bernson get elected to the City Council and became Chief of Staff.
In 1990 Greig became Chairman of the North Valley YMCA where he led the facility move to their new home in Porter Ranch. Greig served 30 years as a LAPD Reserve Officer and was the first ever certified as Detective, working in the Elite Robbery-Homcide Division solving cold case homicides.
In 2003 Greig was elected to the LA City Council serving until 2011. During his term he added more Parks and Open Space in the History of District 12. He oversaw 2 out of 3 new Police Stations. As Chair of the LA City Public Safety Committee which saw the Lowest Crime rates in our Valley in 50 Years.
In 2019, upon a vacancy of the CD-12 council seat, Grieg was the first Councilmember appointed in 52 years.
Greig is now retired and serves as a member of the Board of Providence Holy Cross Hospital and on the Board of Friends of Oakridge City Park Facility.

Paula Boland
Former California State Assemblywoman
Paula Boland served as the representative of the 38th Assembly District 1990-1996.
The owner of a real estate brokerage firm and an active business leader, Boland served as President of the Board of Directors of the GH Chamber of Commerce and was a member for more than 25 years. She also helped found and served as Vice President of the United Chambers of Commerce of the San Fernando Valley; was a founding director of the First State Bank of California and on the bank’s board of directors, since its inception for more than 20 years.
Her many volunteer positions in the community include helping establish the GH Hospital Foundation where she served for four years as its President. She also was a Commissioner on the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) and served as Chairperson of the 118 Freeway Committee.
In recent years, Boland served 3 years on the executive board of S.O.L.I.D., the fund-raising arm of the Devonshire Division Police Station.
Boland currently serves as the Secretary (and a founding board member) of the L.A.P.D. Valley Bureau Foundation.
As of 2019, the intersection of White Oak Ave. and Chatsworth Street is named “Boland Square.”

Dr. Carl Melnik
Dr. Carl Melnik has been an optometrist for over 50 years, practicing in Granada Hills from 1972-2019. Carl was a resident of Granada Hills from 1968-2019; He has retired and now lives in Lake Havasu Arizona and Big Bear, California.
Carl has served as President of: GH Chamber of Commerce, Pals, Kiwanis and Rotary Club of GH, SFB Optometric Society, and GH Community Foundation. He chaired the GH Veteran’s Memorial Park and was VP of North Valley Jaycees. He chaired a merger of 3 groups to form United Chamber of Commerce.
Carl has served on the Boards of the North Valley YMCA, GH Specific Plan, GH Hospital Foundation, Devonshire Community Policy Advisory Board, Design Review Board, GH Community Plan, Bank of GH Advisory Board.
Carl was honored as GH Chamber Citizen of the Year, Honorary Mayor of Granada Hills, and received a Life-time Achievement Award from the SFV Jaycees.

Bonnie Bursk
Bonnie Marie Bursk grew up in the Granada Hills/ Northridge area starting in 1960, in a new home next to vacant fields and horse property, and of course was a witness to the growth and development of Granada Hills. She and her sisters all Graduated from Granada Hills High School, as did all four children of Bonnie.
Bonnie and husband George J. Savin, Jr., moved their law offices to their own building in Granada Hills in 1991 where they became very active in the community. Family activities included local in Granada Hills Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. Bonnie has been a long-time board member of the Granada Hills Chamber of Commerce, Granada Hills Holiday Parade Committee, and Granada Hills Improvement Association.

Jim Hier
Jim Hier earned the unofficial title of Honorary Historian of Granada Hills following the publication of his best selling book Images of America – Granada Hills. Jim grew up in Granada Hills attending local schools, including being a member of Kennedy High School’s first graduating class in 1973. His interest in History comes naturally, thanks to his father who was a History teacher at local Junior High schools. Today, Jim and his family live in Oregon, where he still maintains an active interest in his hometown.
Laura Clemens
Laura Clemens and her family and parents have been long associated with the History of Granada Hills spanning over Five Decades.
Their family business, Andrews Van Lohn Insurance Agency, is located on the picturesque White Oak Ave with Tree Lined Deodar Trees. The building is host to the “ET Extra Terrestrial Movie” curved wall mural on the exact same filming location depicting the famous flying bicycles scene!
Laura’s civic involvement along with her husband Jim includes participation on the Granada Hills Chamber of Commerce, Granada Hills Holiday Parade. Laura is a past recipient of the prestigious Granada Hills “Citizen of the Year” Award.
As a longtime member of the Granada Hills Rotary Club she has chaired many charitable activities and participated on Rotary Annual Blood Drives, YMCA Thanksgiving Food Baskets, Rotary Club Veterans Parkway Initiative, and Fall Street Faire Rotary Octoberfest Event.
Laura presently serves as 2nd Vice President of the Old Granada Village Business Improvement District.

David Beauvais
Dave Beauvais is a 70-year resident of Granada Hills. He and his wife Terry live in old Granada Hills. Dave maintains a practice as a labor arbitrator and serves as a hearing officer for the county and city of Los Angeles civil service commissions.
Dave is past president of the Old Granada Hills Resident’s Group and Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council. He has also served on the Granada Hills Community Review Board, Jack Oakie Park Advisory Board and Granada Hills Foundation. He has worked on numerous events like the Granada Hills Street Faire and North Valley Emergency Preparedness event.

Maria Fisk
Maria Fisk has called Granada Hills home for over 40 years. She has actively participated in local organizations that promoted the conservation of the unique character of Old Granada Hills. Currently, she is employed as a healthcare educator at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.
As a proud member of the Centennial Granada Hills 100 Steering Committee, Maria is passionate about honoring the area’s rich history that began as an agricultural community at the turn of the twentieth century. Maria’s dedication to preserving Granada Hills’ legacy drives her work in making the Centennial Celebration a meaningful tribute to both its past and promising future.

Richard Fisk
Richard Fisk, an Industrial Designer and Product Developer, is a graduate of Granada Hills High School and has lived in Granada Hills since 1980.
Richard has served on the Boards of the GH Chamber of Commerce, the United Chambers of Commerce and its Government Affairs Committee. He has served on Community Advisory Committess for Aliso Canyon Park, the LAUSD design of Granada High School – VAAS, LAPD Bicycle Patrol and Volunteer Community Patrol, and Sunshine Canyon Landfill. Richard was a member of the GH Rotary team creating GH Veteran’s Park and he was appointed Honorary Sheriff of Granada Hills.

Natalie Khooda
Natalie Khooda is a dynamic community connector and business strategist, dedicated to helping businesses grow through meaningful relationships and strategic collaborations. As the founder of her own networking and outreach business, The Community Connector, she works closely with entrepreneurs, medical professionals, and local businesses to increase visibility and foster partnerships. In addition, Natalie serves as the Vice President of Community Outreach on the Granada Hills Chamber of Commerce Executive Board, where she spearheads initiatives to support small businesses and enhance local engagement. With decades of experience in television and a deep passion for community building, she is a driving force in the San Fernando Valley–especially in Granada Hills, where she has lived since childhood–Natalie has a deep-rooted connection to the community, having grown up in Granada Hills since 1986. Her lifelong familiarity with the area and passion for its success make her a true champion for local businesses and residents.
